Blackfeet I Wind Project

Turbines located on the east side of Browning Montana, Siyeh Development Corporation was a participant The Blackfeet Tribe and SeaWest WindPower are proposing to build a new wind energy facility, Blackfeet I, located on tribal, allotted, and privately owned land southeast of Babb on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.

Bonneville Power Administration is proposing to purchase the electrical output from the project which could generate between 36 to 66 megawatts of power.  The project is scheduled for construction in mid to late 2002.  Bonneville is currently preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to determine if there are any environmental impacts either adverse or beneficial from the proposed project.

As part of the EIS, the project team is interested in your thoughts on how the wind project would look at the proposed location.  To this end, the team has prepared photo simulations of the proposed project taken from three different locations in the area.

These simulations will be displayed at the following locations: Siyeh Development Corporation, Blackfeet Tribal Office, and the Browning Public Library for a thirty-day period.  Please view these simulations, and offer your written comments on the comment forms that will be provided.  If you have any questions, please call Dennis Fitzpatrick, General Manager of Siyeh Development at (406) 338-5669.
